Dog Happy Walk

I spent some of this week starting to practice anaimtion with a dog rig that i downloaded from high end 3d. Its my first time animating with animals with four legs but it was a good start and its something I am going to be practicing more over the holidays. Its Thursday and its the end of the week. It has been a very busy term, we have had our fair share of ups and downs, but we have dealt with it as a team and got through it. Our story has developed dramtically from the start, and I think we all got better at letting of certain of the last story, and are now more content with a shoreter piece, still full of culture, visuals and animation. It has been a learning curve for me because time has gone so quick, which is why I am going to be making the most of the christmas holidays and get everything Aminata wants done, so that we are ahead when we get back. The mood boards changed in style but i was happy to do that because it meant working on photoshop which I am not very familiar with but had great fun doing it and learning a few more keys.

Week 9: All young man conept coloured with expressions sheet

Its hand in week and I have managed to colour all the rest of my characters and do their expressions sheets as well. The only bad news is that in the end my design for the young man was not what was visualised, and therefore will not be used in the film. I still feel it was a valuable excercise that helped me explore different styles of concept. I enjoy drawing and so no work is useless. He may play a role at some in the film.... who knows but for now he's not. I drew a variety of different characters and wanted the colours used to represent their origin and personality

Week 8: Pose and Expressions sheet

Week 8: Young Man: Finalised

My meeting with Aminata went well during the week and this is the end product of our conversation. I changed the face and decided that the slim and slender body type best suited my characters personality

Week 8: Environment Concept

From some of the research posted on our group blog i did further street environment concept drawings. On the street we will have the boulangerie and Ginnetes apartment. I spent more time trying to get perspective uysing simple shapes but still getting an effective and stylised look. I hope that the colouring will reflect the mood im trying to set.

Week 8: Some Character Facial Expressions

From left to right: After a meeting with Aminata, we decided that the young man shouold have traits of two characters combined. She liked the nose the character in the above whilst she wanted me to keep the shape of the face and the hair more like an afro. The final character you can see is to the left was the one that was chosen.

Week 8 Young Man Concept

This week has started in earnest drawing a lot of my different concept drawings for the young man. I worked on my essays last week so a lot of my concept couldnt get done, so i focused a lot more on the research aspect of things. I have been told to do a variety of french men, both white and black, formal and informal. For the formal side I have the men in suites and for the informal I have a character with his shirt untucked and also one character only wearing a jumper

Mood Sheets for scenes 64,67,68,71,72,78.....

As well as doing more concept research for my male character, I have also been in charge of doing a number of moods boards for the film. I have been using flash a lot more to colour as it is very basic and it best compliments the simplistic style we want to go for....
